EP08.06: Maternal and fetal characteristics in large‐for‐gestational‐age fetuses

This study evaluates the frequency and maternal and fetal characteristics of pregnancies with large for gestational age fetuses in pregnant mothers referring to Imam Khomeini Hospital in Ahvaz City, Iran. In this cross-sectional descriptive study, all pregnant mothers referring to Imam Hospital in Ahvaz IRAN between 2019 and 2021 were included in the study. All infants whose birthweight was above the 85th percentile based on their age were included in the study. The fetal age at birth was determined based on the ultrasound of the first or second trimester until the 22nd week. The medical records were reviewed regarding maternal and fetal characteristics, including maternal age, maternal blood pressure, maternal body mass index (BMI), gestational age, previous birth history, chronic diseases, history of abortion, history of stillbirth, weight gain during pregnancy, shoulder dystocia, and fetal problems after birth. The completed information in the checklist was statistically analysed with the help of a statistical consultant through the SPSS software. Out of 19379 infants born in 2019.-2021, we had 1625 LGA fetuses, 8.3 percent. Mean age of mothers was 31 years old, Mean BMI was 27, Caesarean section rate was 72 percent, girl infants was 58 percent, shoulder dystocia 3 percent, ERB palsy 0.01 percent, clavicle fracture 0.02 percent. Complications were significantly more in fetuses with birthweight more than 95 centile. Timely diagnosis of LGA before labour initiation is important for counselling with parents about rout of delivery.
