EP09.23: Prenatal diagnosis of absent semilunar valve: from the first trimester
The study aims to delineate the ultrasound characteristics of absent semilunar valve in fetuses, with diagnoses initiated from the first trimester of pregnancy. This retrospective analysis includes data from all cases of absent semilunar valve diagnosed at the Department of Ultrasound Medicine of Fujian Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital between 2011 and 2023. A total of 52 cases of fetal absent semilunar valve were diagnosed. The majority of these cases, 38 cases (73.07%), were diagnosed during the first trimester, 9 (17.30%) in the second trimester, 2 (3.85%) in the third trimester, and 3 (5.77%) in the postpartum period. Diagnosis included absent pulmonary valve syndrome (24 cases, 46.15%), absent aortic valve (10 cases, 19.23%), and absent both pulmonary valve and aortic valve (17 cases, 32.69%), with one case of persistent truncus arteriosus with absent semilunar valve (0.019%). Outcomes included 30 elective termination of pregnancy, one intrauterine death, and 15 cases lost to follow-up. The presence of “Back-and-forth” blood flow signals in the major arteries is a reliable indicator for diagnosing an absent semilunar valve. It is feasible to diagnose absent semilunar valve during the first trimester of pregnancy.
