EP22.21: The comparative analysis of ultrasound and pathology in cases of gastric‐type endocervical adenocarcinoma

Objectives: To evaluate the diagnostic value of ultrasound in gastric-type endocervical adenocarcinoma (GAS). The clinical, ultrasound and pathological data of 11 patients with GAS confirmed by surgical pathology results were retrospectively analysed. The clinical characteristics of the patients, the location, size, infiltration and ultrasound characteristics of the lesions were comprehensively analysed. Among the 11 cases of GAS, 8 cases (72.7%) were solid and cystic-solid, 3 cases (27.2%) were cystic. The pathological manifestations of the masses with solid appearance were dense arrangement of tumour cells with obvious atypia and little or no cytoplasm. Ultrasound showed solid and cystic-solid masses in enlarged cervix with colourful flow. Pathological characteristics of cystic lesions mostly located in the middle and upper location of cervix showed highly differentiated glands with “claw-like” shape, abundant mucus in cytoplasm, and cystic expansion of the glands. Ultrasound showed multiple cysts in enlarged cervix with colourful flow. Combined with pathological features, the ultrasound manifestations of GAS can be better understood, which is helpful to improve the detection rate of the disease. Multiple cysts in enlarged cervix with colourful flow maybe the ultrasound characteristics of GAS.
