Novel experimental method to simulate reduction behaviour of burden in blast furnace shaft

In order to evaluate the effects of CO and H 2 for the gas–solid reaction behaviour of the ferrous burden and coke in blast furnace shaft, a near-steady-state simulation test method of the blast furnace shaft was designed. The reduction behaviour of the ferrous burden, carbon solution loss reaction under different temperatures and atmospheres, and the effect of hydrogen enrichment on the CO gas utilisation ratio were investigated. The results show that above 830 °C, the reduction degrees of different ferrous burden structures under H 2 atmosphere are higher than that under CO atmosphere. Better reduction degradation behaviour could be obtained under the hydrogen-rich atmosphere. The H 2 O generated under H 2 atmosphere could promote the carbon solution loss reaction. The solution loss ratio reaching the maximum at 950 °C. Under hydrogen-rich atmosphere, CO gas utilisation ratio increased with the increased H 2 concentration due to the effects of the products H 2 O and CO 2 .
