Porencephaly in a dog – case report
Porencephaly is a rare disease that affects the central nervous system caused by developmental disorders or encephaloclastic disorders in the fetal and/or perinatal phases. Clinical manifestations are determined by the area and degree of brain involvement, with convulsive manifestations, visual deficits, compulsive circulatory movement and behavioral changes being more frequent. Due to its etiopathogenesis, any area of the brain can be affected. Magnetic resonance imaging is the most sensitive test for detecting brain injuries, and is essential for determining the diagnosis and outcome of affected patients. The patient in this report was a 6-year-old male bull terrier dog presenting porencephaly. This report aimed to contribute data for this rare condition.
