Production-energy cooperation based two-layer robust optimization for energy system of steel enterprise

Iron and steel production is closely related to energy media, such as gas, steam, and electricity, so that the related collaboration as well as their cooperation with the production plays a pivotal role in energy saving and emission reduction. The existing studies typically implement real-time optimization in closed-loop with prediction, whereas the subsequent uncertainty brings further challenge for this work. As such, a production-energy cooperation based two-lay optimization method is proposed in this study. It starts with the modeling for production planning considering time-of-use electricity price in the upper layer. Then taking economic cost as the objective and feasible region for equipment such as Combined Heat and Power (CHP) as the constraints, the model for real-time optimization of energy system is established in the lower layer. In order to deal with the uncertainty problem, an improved light robust optimization algorithm is designed in this study, so as to obtain the final running scheme for the energy system. Based on the real data of a steel enterprise in China, simulations are conducted to compare with the solution without the consideration of cooperative relationship, prediction uncertainty and feasible region of the CHP, aiming at verifying the benefit for economic cost reduction and the superiority of robustness for the proposed method.
