Learning styles of Mexican students in English language acquisition
The objective to this research work is to identify the learning style, understood as the individual and cognitive preferences that a person acquires, processes and retains new information. The Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing and Kinesthetic (VARK) model, predominant among upper secondary and higher education students in Mexico, was used. For this purpose, an online questionnaire was applied that received a total of 900 responses. The sampling used was random, and the minimum sample size was estimated using the cumulative means technique. The results obtained revealed that the VARK model of learning styles prevails among the students. The learning styles were ranked in the following order: repetition, speaking, listening and viewing. Finally, the action-based learning style or learning by doing was found to be the least predominant in this sample of Mexican students.
