PSICOLOGIA POSITIVA: RESILIÊNCIA COMO VARIÁVEL NA VIOLÊNCIA CONTRA MULHER.
The article explores the concept of resilience, traditionally understood as the ability of a material or individual to return to its original state after facing adversity. This idea, applied as a principle of life, is not always ideal in all situations. Although resilience is seen as a positive adaptation that allows people to face challenges and transform themselves, the article adopts a critical perspective, especially in contexts of domestic violence. In these cases, resilience can contribute to the perpetuation of cycles of abuse, particularly in regions where female submission is socially encouraged. Resilience, characterized by qualities such as perseverance and empathy, can become a barrier to the change necessary to break patterns of violence. The text suggests that, in adverse situations, resilience can hinder the flexibility and adaptation necessary to overcome them. Instead of simply returning to the "original state," the article proposes to reconfigure resilience in the light of Positive Psychology, which advocates the development of character strengths to promote assertive and emancipatory actions. Therefore, it questions whether the traditional view of resilience is always beneficial, or whether it can, in some cases, limit personal growth and transformation.
