The Therapeutic Change Process of Parents of Children with Autism in Narrative Therapy-Based Integrated Counseling for Groups(NTBIC-G)

This study examined the effects of Narrative Therapy-Based Integrated Counseling for Groups (NTBIC-G) on life indicators among parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Using the Innovative Moments Coding System (IMCS), the research tracked therapeutic changes through the emergence of Innovative Moments (IMs). Four mothers of children with ASD participated in the program and their life indicators were assessed. Study results were as follows: First, group members showed significant improvements in their life indicators. Second, the frequency of IMs increased progressively during the program. Finally, participants with better outcomes produced more IMs than those with fewer results. A discussion of study findings and limitations as well as suggestions for future research were also offered.
