Health professionals’ conceptions on infection control in neuropathic patients at the Roraima children’s hospital
This study had developed as part of a Medicine graduation requirement and had investigated the conceptions of healthcare professionals regarding the control and prevention of infections in pediatric and neuropathic patients. It was submitted to the Ethics and Research Committee of the State University of Roraima and received the CAAE number 77089124.3.0000.5621. The adopted methodology has a qualitative and descriptive approach, based on Laurence Bardin's Thematic Content Analysis, as reinterpreted by Cecilia Minayo. For data collection, a semi-structured interview instrument was utilized, targeting professionals from the Long-Term Care Unit of a children's hospital in the north of Brazil. Following this line of thought, five thematic categories were delineated, describing the interviewees' perceptions on the subject. The final considerations highlighted points related to the knowledge and relevant subjectivities in the practice of professionals concerning the control and prevention of healthcare-associated infections. This study contributes to understanding the educational role in infection prevention and the complexity of managing neuropathic patients and their specific demands.
