Analyzing Transaction Networks of Popular Wearables within the Decentraland Metaverse

This study investigates avatar wearables from Decentraland’s marketplace, focusing on analyzing the most popular avatar wearable collections. It aims to evaluate the transaction patterns underlying their popularity and the purchasing behaviors of metaverse users. Employing network science methodologies, this research identifies distinct patterns within one and a half years of transaction networks of the top collections. It delineates various participant roles, including those of massive buyers, massive sellers, traders, and exclusive buyers and sellers. This study discusses the proportion of these behaviors in each collection, considering the timeliness of the collections and their perceived value to participants. The insights are valuable for understanding consumer behavior in virtual environments and can provide guidance for brands and managers operating in the digital fashion market of metaverses.
