Anatomic Intermezzo

Abstract According to an ancient Chinese saying, the first step to wisdom is getting things by their right names. This chapter offers an entertaining look at the etymologic derivations of the names used to describe vocal anatomy. It is meant as a break from the more didactic parts of the book and adds some context to the terms the authors use in describing the vocal apparatus.
