Review Article: Study of The Toxicity of Herbal Plants on Vital Organs of Experimental Animals

Background: Indonesia is a tropical country with many natural resources, including flora and fauna. Herbs are natural plants with therapeutic qualities but can also be harmful. As a result, many studies evaluate the toxicity of herbal plants because conducting clinical trials for herbal medicines requires safe treatment. Purpose: This article aims to learn more about the harmful effects of compounds not found in acute and subchronic toxicity tests. The method of writing the article was found through searches in Google Scholar, Science Direct, Research Gate, Garuda, and Pubmed, which are online publications of scientific journals. Several nationally accredited scientific papers, including Sinta 4 and Sinta 5, were accepted. Fifteen literary journals are all relevant to this topic. The toxicity test results reveal that certain plants are classified as non-toxic, slightly toxic, or highly hazardous.
