GRAPHIC-ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE LOCATION OF A GAS PIPELINE LEAK

A method has been developed for analytically determining the location of a leak in a pipeline based on the use of measurement results at characteristic points of the pipeline. Studies of the hydrodynamics of a gas pipeline with a leak have been carried out. The method is based on measuring the newly introduced dimensionless indicator B, as well as plotting the dependence of this indicator on the coordinates of the leak location.A simplified version of this method (determination of xL) is also proposed, which involves constructing a piecewise linear approximation of the specified dependence, measuring the introduced dimensionless indicator and graphically determining the location of the leak.
