Abstract: In a video interview with Journal of Singing Associate Editor Melissa Treinkman on March 29, 2024, Michael Maliakel discussed his career and his experience playing the title role in the Broadway show Aladdin . A first place winner of the 2014 NATS National Musical Theatre Competition, Michael talked about the impact of his classical voice training on his Broadway career, the constantly ascending tessitura of musical theatre roles, and why he believes representation matters.
