Gallbladder agenesis: case report
There are several anatomical variants of the gallbladder. Gallbladder agenesis is a very rare biliary abnormality. Symptomatic patients usually present with abdominal pain, nausea, and emesis and are often misdiagnosed as gallstone disease. We report the clinical case of a 68-year-old patient who presented with recurrent pain in the right upper quadrant for some years, with ultrasound findings of a poorly visualized gallbladder, for which a diagnosis of scleroatrophic lithiasic cholecystitis was made, giving an indication for cholecystectomy surgery. laparoscopic. Diagnosis of gallbladder agenesis occurred intraoperatively, requiring laparotomic conversion of the operation. The presence of a para-duodenal diverticulum adhering to the lower edge of the liver was also found and was removed. Intraoperative ultrasound was performed which contributed to the confirmation of the diagnosis of gallbladder agenesis.
