Cover Feature: Ion‐Pairing Assemblies of Anion‐Responsive π‐Electronic Systems That Have Noncovalently Assisted Expanded Planar Region (Chem. Eur. J. 49/2024)

Arylethynyl-substituted dipyrrolyldiketone BF2 complexes as anion-responsive π-electronic molecules exhibited an enhancement in one-photon absorption and associated two-photon absorption derived from conformation changes upon anion binding. The anion complexes with expanded planar regions assisted by intramolecular interactions resulted in solid-state charge-by-charge ion-pairing assemblies in combination with π-electronic cations. More information can be found in the Research Article by H. Maeda and co-workers (DOI: 10.1002/chem.202401932).

Abstract

Arylethynyl-substituted dipyrrolyldiketone BF2 complexes as anion-responsive π-electronic molecules exhibited an enhancement in one-photon absorption and associated two-photon absorption derived from conformation changes upon anion binding. The anion complexes with expanded planar regions assisted by intramolecular interactions resulted in solid-state charge-by-charge ion-pairing assemblies in combination with π-electronic cations. More information can be found in the Research Article by H. Maeda and co-workers (DOI: 10.1002/chem.202401932).
