Abstract The article focusses on one stanza from Frauenlob’s oeuvre in the ›Weimarer Liederhandschrift‹ which introduces the key word gesperre for describing the semantic-logical phenomenon of relational terms. Based on a new edition of GA X,4 (as well as of the thematically connected GA V,69) and structured as an extended commentary on these fifteen lines in ›Vergessener Ton‹, the study presents some new aspects of Frauenlob’s reflection on language, explores a possible link between Frauenlob and Rudolf von Ems and raises the general question about the difference between saelde and saelikeit .
