This study aims to present a critical overview of mediation in Brazil, the historical evolution of mediation, Brazilian legislation regarding mediation, principles applied in mediation. Finally, the final considerations are presented based on the doctrinal understandings on the subject. This research contributes to the clarification and dissemination of a topic that is very relevant to the general public.
