“Atlas” - First cervical vertebrae: Deciphering morphological complexity, quantifying morphometry and integrating clinical perspectives
• Morphometric and morphological data of atlas vertebrae reveals significant variations. • Six superior facets and four novel inferior articular facets were identified. • Variations of hypoplastic foramen transversarium, retro transverse foramen, midline cleft of posterior arch. • Correlations between parameters of foramen transversarium and vertebral column provided. • Study aids in customizing craniovertebral surgeries to avoid neurovascular complications.
