CO2 Reduction in Integrated Environmental Management System for NDC(Nationally Determined Contribution)

As an alternative for Korea’s climate change agreement and carbon neutrality, the NDC (Nationally Determined Contribution) was announced in 2015 to suggest a 40% reduction in 2018 emissions by 2030 compared to 2021. CO2 is a representative source of greenhouse gases, and 269.6 million tons of CO2eq and 260.5 million tons of CO2eq were emitted from transition and industry in 2018, respectively, in 2030, the targets were set at 145.9 million tons of CO2eq and 230.7 million tons of CO2eq, which were reduced by 45.9% and 11.4%, respectively. CO2 is not classified as an air pollutant, but it is increasing the amount of greenhouse gas generated because the amount of CO2 generated every year is increasing in industries that have obtained an integrated environmental management license. Efforts are being made to reduce greenhouse gases through technology development such as CO2 capture devices. However, for CO2 reduction measures in the integrated environmental management system, it is necessary to present alternatives for greenhouse gas reduction by presenting emission impact analysis and permitted emission standards. Therefore, Since it is unclear to achieve the existing NDC goal through the spread of new and renewable energy, it is a way to achieve the goal. CO2 removal technologies are introduced as an optimal application technique for industry that have obtained integrated environmental management approval and permission, and institutional improvement is needed to reduce greenhouse gases as well as air pollutants.
