IMPORTÂNCIA DO PROJETO ARQUITETÔNICO APROVADO PELA VIGILÂNCIA SANITÁRIA: MUITO ALÉM DE UM PRECIOSISMO
Introduction: In the state of Minas Gerais, the construction and renovation of healthcare facilities require prior authorization from the Health Surveillance Authority (Vigilância Sanitária), which is obtained through the approval of an architectural project by this sector of the Health Department. Objective: To demonstrate the necessity of an architectural project to improve the quality and best practices in establishments inspected by the Health Surveillance Authority. Methodology: This qualitative research utilized an integrative review of the scientific literature to analyze studies on the importance of architectural project approval by the Health Surveillance Authority. Rigorous criteria were established for the selection and evaluation of studies, ensuring data quality. The analysis followed stages of familiarization, detailed exploration, and synthesis of conclusions based on the evidence collected. Results: Studies show that the absence of approved architectural projects by the Health Surveillance Authority in healthcare units compromises infection control, biosafety, and service efficiency due to inadequate spaces and lack of proper material flow. Most of the units demonstrated did not follow the guidelines for material processing in the Central Sterile Services Department. Therefore, it is necessary to invest in adequate infrastructure and well-planned projects to ensure the quality of healthcare services. Conclusion: The approval of architectural projects by the Health Surveillance Authority is essential to ensure that healthcare facilities comply with regulatory standards, improving infection control, biosafety, operational efficiency, and the quality of care. Investing in proper structures is necessary for the safety and effectiveness of healthcare.
