INTERVENÇÕES PSICOSSOCIAIS NO TRANSTORNO BIPOLAR: PSICOEDUCAÇÃO E TERAPIA COGNITIVO-COMPORTAMENTAL COMO FATORES DE ADESÃO AO TRATAMENTO

This study aimed to examine how psychosocial interventions, specifically psychoeducation and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), contribute to treatment adherence in patients with bipolar disorder. A bibliographic review analyzed 14 articles published between 2009 and 2019, sourced from the Google Scholar database. The rationale for the study is based on the evidence that medication alone is insufficient, necessitating additional psychological support for patients. The findings revealed that psychosocial interventions play a crucial role in managing bipolar disorder, as the chronic nature of the condition requires ongoing monitoring. The reviewed articles demonstrated that, alongside pharmacological treatment, psychoeducation and CBT enhance patients' quality of life and support treatment adherence. These interventions assist patients and their families in gaining a better understanding of the disorder, demystifying the condition, and reducing social stigma. Providing clear information about the illness and its treatments through psychosocial interventions increases patients' engagement with therapeutic recommendations, thereby helping to reduce and prevent relapses.
