THE STRUGGLE OF POLITICAL SUBJECTIVITY OF ROSTOV AND VLADIMIR BEFORE 1218: IDEOLOGICAL FEATURES OF URBANISATION OF NORTHEASTERN RUS’
The paper deals with the participation of urban communities of the North-East in the political struggle of princes in 1157–1218. The conflict took place between the “old” cities, founded before the 11th century, and the new cities that appeared from the early 12th century. The dispute of cities was projected onto the conflicts of princes in 1174–1176 and 1211–1218. The struggle of princes contributed to the emergence of the political subjectivity of the cities. The “new” city of Vladimir became the winner in this struggle.
