Determination of crust-mantle electrical boundary based on magnetotelluric inversion in North China

Establishing the depth to the crust’s base is crucial for comprehending and formulating theories about the long-term changes on our planet, encompassing the development and transformation of the Earth’s crust. Various geophysical probes have been used to date in the study of the Moho interface. Petrophysical studies suggest that there should be a gradient in resistivity at the crust-mantle boundary. In this paper, observations from four electromagnetic stations in North China are used to invert to obtain the deep electrical structure below the stations, which is comparable to the results of previous studies in neighboring regions. And the depth of the electrical Moho interface below the stations is determined using the derivative method to enhance the boundary, which is found to be basically coincident with the seismological Moho surface.
