Abstract

The increasing deployment of solar panels necessitates efficient maintenance strategies to ensure optimal performance.Dust accumulation on solar panels significantly reduces their efficiency, leading to substantial power loss. This project presents a comprehensive solution that not only classifies the dust into six categories using deep learning and computer vision techniques but also quantifies the efficiency loss due to dust.By segmenting the solar panel into smaller sections, we accurately identify dust-affected areas and calculate the corresponding efficiency drop. This detailed analysis allows for targeted cleaning and maintenance, thereby optimizing the performance and longevity of solar panels. The project leverages Python, deep learning, and the Flask framework to provide real-time monitoring and maintenance recommendations. The proposed system not only enhances the accuracy of dust detection but also provides actionable insights into the specific sections of the solar panel that require cleaning, thus maximizing energy output. Our approach integrates data collection, model training, and web-based visualization to offer a user-friendly interface for monitoring solar panel health. This project aims to fill the gap left by existing manual and automated cleaning systems, providing a cost-effective and precise method to maintain solar panel efficiency. This project aims to address these challenges by using advanced computer vision and deep learning techniques to detect and classify dust on solar panels.Additionally, the project estimates the efficiency loss due to dust and provides actionable insights for maintenance.
