What role can electrical resistivity and induced polarization play in the search for new copper deposits in China?
This abstract summarizes the latest projections of copper requirements to support the energy & digital transitions and the potential gap that exists today between needs and availability. For a number of reasons, the world was not prepared in advance for such phenomenal demand for strategic metals, leading to a frenzy of mining exploration in a context of budgetary constraints. China has embarked decades ago on large-scale geological reconnaissance programs that precede more targeted, shallower exploratory studies. What role can the Electrical resistivity and Induced Polarization methods play in this new era of mineral exploration in China? Do recent developments meet the challenges facing explorers? This presentation will also focus on a few selected examples of mining exploration using the Electrical resistivity and Induced Polarization.
