Development of Overhauser magnetometers for UAV’s magnetic survey applications
A brief overview of current magnetic survey techniques using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) is provided in the paper. A comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of the considered systems permits to draw conclusions about their effectiveness and use for solving different geological exploration and engineering tasks. A comparison of data observed with a Cesium optical pumped quantum and Overhauser magnetometers allows us to conclude that most UAV magnetic prospecting tasks can be successfully solved using more affordable and easier to use Overhauser magnetometers without a significant loss in accuracy and performance.
