Development of a robust inversion method for electromagnetic well logging

The continuous quest for efficient and precise subsurface exploration in the oil and gas industry has led to significant developments in electromagnetic (EM) well logging technologies. This study presents a novel multilayer inversion method for ultra-deep electromagnetic (EM) well logging, overcoming the limitations of conventional approaches in complex subsurface environments. By using Tikhonov regularization algorithm, the method enhances detection accuracy and noise immunity, enabling precise characterization of deep geological formations. Validation against synthetic data illustrates the method’s ability to resolve fine layer boundaries and resistivities. The study can offer potential benefits for hydrocarbon exploration and the possibility of addressing wider geophysical challenges.
