Prevention and control of Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea (CDAD) in the healthcaresettings requires careful attention to hand hygiene, contact precautions, and environmental cleaning.Antibiotic restriction can reduce C. difficile rates; strategies for antibiotic use should be tailoredto health care delivery in particular institutions. There is insufficient data for routine use ofprobiotics, treatment of asymptomatic carriers, or vaccination.
