Therapeutic analysis of Donanemab in the treatment of patients with Alzheimer's disease

The therapeutic analysis of Donanemab in the treatment of patients with Alzheimer's disease reveals it as a promising approach in the fight against this devastating neurodegenerative condition. The reviewed clinical studies demonstrate that Donanemab, a monoclonal antibody developed to target and remove beta-amyloid plaques, can significantly reduce plaque burden in the brain and consequently slow the clinical progression of the disease. The results indicate an improvement in cognitive and functional outcomes compared to traditional treatments and other monoclonal antibodies, such as Aducanumab. The methodology used for this research consisted of a qualitative literature review, with data collection from recognized databases such as Scielo, Google Scholar, and other specialized sources. Strict inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied to ensure the relevance and quality of the analyzed studies. A total of 15 studies were selected for detailed analysis. Although Donanemab has shown promising results, challenges remain, especially concerning side effects such as amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA). The need for rigorous monitoring protocols and long-term studies is crucial to validate the sustained safety and efficacy of the treatment. In conclusion, Donanemab represents a significant advancement in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, with the potential to alter the course of the disease more effectively than existing treatments.
