Calculation of Effective Dose of Phenylephrine Bolus for Treatment of Post–Spinal Hypotension in Preeclamptic Patients Undergoing Caesarean Section—A Nonrandomized Controlled Trial
( Int J Obstet Anesth . 2023;56:103929. doi: 10.1016/j.ijoa.2023.103929) Preeclampsia (PEC), a condition marked by high blood pressure during pregnancy, poses risks for both mother and fetus. Although post–spinal hypotension is rare in PEC, if it occurs (especially for over two minutes), it can worsen fetal health by impacting blood flow to the placenta and increasing oxygen free radicals. Prompt treatment of hypotension is crucial to mitigate maternal symptoms and improve outcomes for both mother and baby.
