Self‐Converted Scaffold Enables Dendrite‐Free and Long‐Life Zn‐Ion Batteries (Adv. Energy Mater. 32/2024)

Zinc-Ion Batteries In article number 2401820, Jiyoung Ma, Jaephil Cho, Jung-Je Woo, and co-workers developed a new, conceptual self-converted scaffold Zn anode. These newly designed Zn anodes exhibit a unique deposition sequence where Zn first deposits on the nucleation seed and then on the basal plane. The nucleation seed with deposited Zn naturally transforms into a resistive scaffold, guiding the deposition of Zn onto the basal plane and physically inhibiting the growth of dendrites.

Abstract

Zinc-Ion Batteries In article number 2401820, Jiyoung Ma, Jaephil Cho, Jung-Je Woo, and co-workers developed a new, conceptual self-converted scaffold Zn anode. These newly designed Zn anodes exhibit a unique deposition sequence where Zn first deposits on the nucleation seed and then on the basal plane. The nucleation seed with deposited Zn naturally transforms into a resistive scaffold, guiding the deposition of Zn onto the basal plane and physically inhibiting the growth of dendrites.
