Systematization of English legal pseudo-international vocabulary in translation into Russian

The aim of the study is to systematize pseudo-international English words in legal language that fully or partially do not coincide in meaning with the lexical units used in translation into Russian. The paper examines full and partial pseudo-international units according to the scope of the meaning conveyed. The study is novel in that it is the first to conduct a comprehensive analysis of pseudo-internationalisms, or, in other words, words of the “false friends” category, denoting legal notions, in translation from English to Russian according to the principles of their belonging to a specific part of speech and a full and partial non-coincidence of meanings. As a result of the analysis, it was found that among pseudo-internationalisms, there are units represented by nouns, adjectives, verbs, and adverbs. Nouns predominate in the language of law. Adjectives, verbs, and adverbs are less characteristic of legal topics. The phenomenon of conversion in some cases hinders the correct determination of the part of speech of the source word, resulting in a decrease in the understanding of the legal text and leading to incorrect translations.
