PEAK O2 ATENUA O ESTRESSE OXIDATIVO E O DANO MUSCULAR APÓS TESTE AERÓBICO DE ESFORÇO MÁXIMO EM RATOS WISTAR IDOSOS
Introduction: It is well known that oxidative stress plays a crucial role in aging, being one of the underlying mechanisms of age-related diseases. In addition, acute exercise can also cause oxidative stress and muscle damage. In this way, PEAK O2 supplementation is studied as an antioxidant strategy. Objective Analysing the effects of prior ingestion of PEAK O2 against oxidative stress and muscle damage induced by maximum stress aerobic test in elderly wistar mice. Methods: 24 male mice with 18 months of age, divided into 4 groups: control (GS); test group (TR); control group+PEAK O2 (GS+PK); test group+ PEAK O2 (TR+ PK). The mice took 200mg per hour before the test. Results: animals in the TR+ PK group had a reduction of MDA of 33.02% (p= 0.0121) compared to the TR group. The SH and TAC markers increased by 17.47% (p=0.0258), and 2.33% (P=0.0067) respectively, in the TR+ PK group, compared to the animals in the GS, TR and GS+PK groups. Conclusion: Through the reduction of MDA in the gastrocnemial muscle (31.48%, p=0.0017) and the soleous muscle (22.38%; p =0.0040) and decreased values of CK and LDH (34.14% and 26.07%) respectively, previous intake of PEAK O2 mitigated oxidative stress and muscle damage after maximum-stress aerobic test in elderly wistar rats.
