O IMPACTO DAS MUDANÇAS CLIMÁTICAS NAS COMUNIDADES VULNERÁVEIS

Climate change has a profound and disproportionate impact on vulnerable communities around the world. These groups, often located in regions prone to natural disasters, face greater risks due to their limited capacity to adapt and respond. The combination of economic, social and environmental factors exacerbates the vulnerability of these communities, making them more susceptible to extreme weather events such as floods, droughts and storms. Furthermore, the lack of adequate infrastructure, limited financial resources and restricted access to essential services increase the challenges these populations face. Consequences include loss of housing, food insecurity, forced migration and impacts on physical and mental health. To mitigate these effects, it is crucial to implement policies that promote resilience and adaptation, involving vulnerable communities themselves in planning and implementing preventive measures. International cooperation and financial support are equally essential to address this crisis effectively and equitably. Actions should focus on long-term strategies that strengthen local infrastructure, improve access to health and education services, and provide economic opportunities to reduce dependence on activities that exacerbate climate risks. Additionally, it is necessary to invest in early warning systems and training programs that allow these communities to anticipate and respond more effectively to natural disasters. Sustainable development projects that respect the environment and promote the rational use of natural resources can help build a safer and more resilient future. Climate change awareness and education are also key to raising awareness and encouraging active participation from all sectors of society in the search for innovative and inclusive solutions. Therefore, collaboration between governments, nongovernmental organizations and civil society becomes essential to face the challenges posed by climate change and protect the most vulnerable populations.
