Effectiveness of Manual Therapy and Inclined Board Standing Interventions on Pain, Physical Functions and Quality of Life Improvement in Low Back Pain Patients: A Randomized Control Trial
1) Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of combining manual therapy with inclined board standing on pain reduction, physical function, and quality of life in patients with low back pain.(2) Methods: A single-centred, parallel-group, observer-blind randomized controlled trial was conducted at the Agile Rehabilitation Complex, Bahawalpur, Pakistan.Fifty patients with non-specific mechanical low back pain were randomized into two groups, with 44 completing the study.Group 1 received manual therapy combined with inclined board standing, while Group 2 engaged only in inclined board standing sessions.Primary outcomes were measured using the Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and SF-12 (Physical Component Summary).( 3) Results: Significant improvements were observed in NPRS, ODI, and SF-12 scores, with p-values < 0.0001 and large effect sizes. The intervention group demonstrated greater improvements in pain intensity, functional outcomes, and quality of life compared to the control group.(4) Conclusions: Integrating inclined board standing with manual therapy significantly enhances treatment outcomes for low back pain, offering a promising approach to managing this condition.
