Conceptualizing Electronic Governance for Development: An Overview
Electronic governance is essentially the application of information and communications technology to government processes to implement simple, moral, accountable, responsive, and transparent (SMART) governance.E-Governance is not limited to the introduction or application of technology tools. However, it also aims to integrate government procedures to better serve the people by bringing about a shift in the mindset and workplace culture.A government office is typically the venue for interactions between citizens and government agencies. It became possible to discover service facilities that are closed to customers using newly developed information and communication technology. The development of ICT has made it possible for users' individuals, groups, corporations, organizations, or governments to communicate more quickly and effectively and store, retrieve, and process data, as well as trade and use it.The utilization and availability of information also give citizens more awareness and power. The entire paradigm of governance has altered as a result of citizens being more aware of their rights and raising their expectations of the government to act and provide for them.
