What links digital skills to life satisfaction later in life? The roles of digital benefits and living arrangements
This study investigates the moderated mediation effect of living arrangements on the association between digital skills and life satisfaction through self-reported digital benefits. Using the 2020 Digital Information Gap Survey, our sample comprised 1,760 older Koreans aged 55 and over. We found a moderated mediation effect of living arrangements. The indirect effect of digital skills on life satisfaction via self-reported digital benefits was conditioned by living arrangements, demonstrating that the indirect effect was stronger for people living alone. How digital technology can be leveraged to promote a better quality of life for older adults should be further discussed.
