Anemia which is pathophysiological condition is definitely becoming a global public health issue and iron deficiency anemia is a major contributor towards it which is not amenable to eradication due to convergence of several causative factors. An imbalance in body's intake, in stores and body's loss of iron thus leads to inefficiency in supporting the production of erythrocytes. A mention of certain neurological comorbidities like pica particularly geophagia, the cause of which is unknown especially amongst children along with long lasting cognitive decline needs to be emphasized as this causes great loss work productivity and nation's economy thereby aggravating the disease burden in terms of quality of life Thus certainly is therefore the country's responsibility that its citizens have a healthy life. In this review, we discuss on anemia and its pathophysiological implications with an insight into the various interventional methods carried so far and further research required and innovations as a means of India's battle towards global elimination of malnutrition. Thus, to devise new policies and strengthen the existing framework, a high level of intersectoral collaboration is essential. Keywords: Anaemia; Anaemia Implications; Malnutrition
