Among the constructive effects are increased information accessibility, increased civic engagement, transparency and accountability of authorities, political education and awareness, and bolstered democratic processes. The identified destructive effects of mediatization in political communications include societal fragmentation, spread of disinformation, decline in the quality of political discourse, commercialization of the political process, and manipulation of public opinion.
