Retracing ecological relationships: paving the way in Malaysia
This situated action engages with farmers belonging to the agropastoral community of Sarawak attending the PDC24. It is part of the “Entanglements between biodiversity and rural traditions” project, aiming to probe ecological relationships in various agropastoral communities by supporting farmers in noticing the entanglements between themselves, the environment and the more-than-human species with whom they share the territory. During the conference, farmers will be first invited to go through the exhibition showing the work done with other communities in Italy and Finland. Then, they will be actively engaged in reflecting on their ecological relationships through the tangible wooden "Entanglement tool" (at the conference) and the "Ecological relationships" smartphone app (on the field, when back home). The aim of the situated action is to untangle how biodiversity and agropastoral contexts are intertwined, to learn how/if biodiversity preservation is embedded in farming practices, and to uncover opportunities to support specific relationships.
