ESTIGMAS DA PROSTITUIÇÃO: O SIGNIFICADO E CONSTRUÇÃO DO SER MULHER
This study aimed to understand the meaning of being a woman in the prostitution’s work and the stigma that they carry. Being a woman is loaded with postures and built codes, replicated and sustained by social institutions that hold power. The woman who practiced prostitution, due to being work, breaks this construction and thus carries with her a series of stigmas, which exclude and segregate her from the idealized figure of what it is to be a woman. Being a woman or a man goes far beyond what is socially employed, it concerns how you see yourself, how you characterize yourself and how you perceive yourself. Prostitutes are women, they are subjects endowed with rights and deserve to be seen and respected as such, and as well as workers in other professions, it concerns how you see yourself, how it is characterized and how it is perceived.
