The main objective of this research project is to analyze the incidence of the use of labor competencies in the development of interculturality in a job training institute with a group of 30 Colombian students enrolled in a level 2 English course. Due to current trends in the world of work affected by globalization, a qualitative type of research was carried out. The study was based on an action-research design using techniques such as observation for the subsequent analysis of the classes. From these processes, results emerged that revealed, among other things, that the development of work competencies is fundamental to foster leadership and respect among different cultures. During the process of crafting and executing lesson plans, it became evident that a considerable number of students within the institute exhibit a notable lack of understanding regarding the significance of interculturality. This observation underscores the imperative need for further exploration and examination of this phenomenon. Likewise, it was possible to understand that labor competencies, go beyond technical skills, and also involve some factors such as communication, adaptability, and conflict resolution, among others, which contribute to coexistence, mutual understanding, and the success of organizations in a globalized and diverse world, promoting the personal and professional growth of people. Thus, highlighting the relevance of an inclusive and flexible leadership that can effectively use the talent and creativity of a multicultural team, generating a more inclusive and collaborative environment.
