Impact of Immunoglobulin M-enriched Immunoglobulins on the Outcomes of Severe Coronavirus Disease 2019
Outcomes of patients with severe COVID-19 requiring ICU care remain dismal. IgM-enriched Ig may be helpful in improving oxygenation and combating cytokine storm in these patients. However, in the present study, the improvement in oxygenation indices (SpO<sub>2</sub>/FiO<sub>2</sub>) and reduction in inflammatory markers like D-dimer and ferritin were not statistically significant. Hence, larger randomized controlled trials are required to get more definitive evidence to support this therapy and show significant clinical and mortality benefits.
