DEPENDENCE OF THE REVERBERATION COEFFICIENT OF SOUND ABSORPTION OF FIBROUS MATERIALS ON THE DENSITY AND COMPOSITION OF THE MATERIAL

Sound absorption plays an important role insoundproofing linings, determining their effectivenessin blocking sound waves and creating a comfortableacoustic environment inside a room.Sound absorbing materials absorb sound wavesinstead of reflecting them back into the room. Thishelps reduce echoes and reverberations, making thesound inside the room clearer and more pleasant.Sound absorbing materials can also improvethe soundproofing characteristics of the structuralelements of the room (walls, ceilings, wall and ceilingcladding), reducing the penetration of sound fromoutside and reducing the transition between rooms. This is especially useful in apartment buildings, offices and commercial buildings, where privacy andcomfort are important. The presented article explores a comparativeanalysis of the results of laboratory tests of thereverberation coefficient of sound absorption(hereinafter referred to as RCSA) of various fibrousmaterials. The objects of the study were samplesmade of basalt wool, glass staple fiber with syntheticand organic binders. The main parameters of thesamples were the density of materials, ranging from18 kg/m3 to 55 kg/m3, and the thickness of 50 mmand 60 mm. The research results showed a significantdependence of RCSA on the physical properties ofthe materials used. It was found that materials withhigher density and greater thickness had significantlybetter sound absorption indicators. Samples withorganic binders proved to be particularly effective. Itwas also established that changes in the compositionof raw materials affect the acoustic properties ofthe material. The obtained results have practicalsignificance for selecting optimal materials for soundinsulation and absorption systems. They can beuseful in the design and construction of buildingsand structures requiring increased sound insulation, such as office premises, recording studios, cinemas, and others. The study also opens avenues for furtherresearch in this direction, particularly in investigatingthe influence of other parameters on the soundinsulation properties of materials.

Abstract
