Full-Speed Region Control Method Based on Deadbeat Direct Speed Control for SPMSMs

High bandwidth and dynamic response are achieved through deadbeat control, which has been employed for direct speed control (DSC) of surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPMSMs). Nonetheless, prevailing approaches predominantly focus on base speed operation and rely on traditional formulas when addressing flux weakening operations, neglecting parameter mismatches. This oversight results in a nonoptimal d–q axis current distribution and degrades SPMSM performance. To address this limitation and expand the operational scope of deadbeat DSC (DDSC), this article proposes an innovative full-speed region DDSC (FSR-DDSC) methodology for SPMSM. First, existing DDSC strategies and the full-speed region (FSR) control method are delineated without considering disturbances. Subsequently, an FSR calculation method that incorporates lumped disturbances is examined. Therefore, this study proposed a disturbance-inclusive FSR-DDSC approach, expanding the operational region of conventional DDSC. The proposed method can enable the motor to operate at its optimal state that minimum current is required at the current state, even in the existence of parameter mismatch. Experimental assessments corroborate the effectiveness of the FSR-DDSC method in achieving DSC over the FSR, exhibiting robustness to parameter mismatch and external disturbances.
