Dual-Dimension Configuration of Polarization and Angle Based on Metasurface for the CCI Suppression
Angle selective surfaces (ASS) offer the capability to manipulate the transmission or reflection of electromagnetic waves at specific angles. However, currently, most research on ASS is focused on high frequencies, which makes it impossible to reduce co-channel interference (CCI) in 5G communication systems, especially in the frequency range 1 (FR1) sub-6 GHz. To this end, this letter introduces a dual-dimensional (2-D) angle selective surface for the FR1. The proposed structure consists of a metal pattern and a dielectric layer, achieving low-angle transmission and high-angle reflection under TE polarization, realizing all-angle transmission under TM polarization. Both simulation and experimental indicate that for TE-polarized waves, high transmittance (insertion loss of −1 dB) is observed at 3.5 GHz for normal incidence and low transmittance (|S</i>21|<−10 dB) for oblique incidence (incident angle larger than 15°), achieving decent angle selectivity. The proposed design exhibits angle insensitivity throughout the entire operating bandwidth for TM-polarized waves and maintains high transmittance at larger incident angles. The presented design with CCI suppression function provides an important method for breaking through the major problems of CCI between 5G communication and satellite communication.
