Associated Production of Heavy Quarkonia and D Mesons in the High Energy Factorization Approach

In this article, we study the processes of associated production of prompt $${J \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {J \psi }} \right. \kern-0em} \psi }$$ and $$\Upsilon $$ mesons with $$D$$ mesons in an improved color evaporation model using factorization at high energies in the parton Reggeization approach. This approach is based on the modified Kimber–Martin–Ryskin–Watt model for unintegrated parton distributions functions and the effective field theory of Reggeized gluons and quarks, proposed by L.N. Lipatov. We predict cross sections for associated $${J \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {J \psi }} \right. \kern-0em} \psi }\left( \Upsilon \right) + D$$ hadroproduction processes considering the mechanisms of single and double parton scatterings using a set of model parameters obtained earlier when describing single and pair production of heavy quarkonia at the LHC energies. Numerical calculations were done using the KaTie Monte Carlo event generator. The calculation results are compared with existing data at energies $$\sqrt s = 7$$ and 8 TeV.
