Implementation of SHEPWM using the modified Newton-Raphson algorithm on a three phase inverter with DSPACE 1104

The significant impact of harmonics and switching frequency on switching power converters is Widely known and acknowledged. To mitigate this issue, over the years a diverse range of methods has been developed. A three-phase inverter using a modified Newton-Raphson algorithm for selective harmonic elimination is simulated and experimentally validated in this research. The modified Newton–Raphson method is utilized to solve transcendental equations in the Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulse Width Modulation (SHEPWM) technique, aiming to determine the optimal switching angles, This modified technique is uncomplicated and guarantees swift convergence to the solution. This research provides a comprehensive analytical overview of the harmonic issue and details the step-by-step utilization of a modified Newton-Raphson (NR) procedure to remove specific target harmonics, to gauge the performance of the suggested strategy. The DSPACE environment, which is based on digital signal processors, is used to conduct simulations and validate the accuracy of the approach. The efficacy of the suggested strategy is unequivocally substantiate by the very positive experimental results.
